Merlyn T. Chappa Merlyn Troxell Chappa, age 87 of Bethel, died Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at Danbury Hospital. She was the widow of Benjamin Raymond Chappa. She was born in Van Ormer, Pa., May 6, 1921 daughter of the late Clifford and Hazel Coy Troxell. She was a resident of New Canaan for 50 years before moving to Bethel 15 years ago. For more than 25 years, she was the supervisor of the cafeteria at East Street School in New Canaan. She was a member of AARP and the Bethel Senior Center. Merlyn is survived by her step-daughter, Louise Crosby and her husband, Wayne of Bethel; a sister, Florean Beck of Altoona, Pa.; step-grandson, Daniel Crosby and his wife, Lori of Sandy Hook; step-granddaughter, Christine Lima of Bethel; four step-great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Savannah, Kaylee and Rachel; as well as many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Bethel Senior Center, 1 School St., Bethel, CT 06801. The family will receive friends in the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, Thursday evening from 5 to 7. A graveside service will be held Friday in St. John's Cemetery, Norwalk.
