    AFTON - Helen Montross Decker, 88, of Afton, New York guided by her family, left her home with strength and grace to enter the placed reserved for her in Heaven.

    She is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Joh, her son Roger, her parents, Samuel and Corabelle Montross, sisters, Winifred, Mina, Rebecca, Harriet and brother, Reginald.

    Mrs. Decker is survived by daughter and son in law, Jan and Stan Philips, Bainbridge; daughter in-law, Cathy Decker, Wallowa, Oregon; two sisters Lois South, McAfee, NJ, Sue Torres, Florida; 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

    Helen was a member of the Afton United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and she sang in the choir. She was a bus driver in New Jersey when she retired after 20 years. Mrs. Decker loved her memories of her 6 sisters and 1 brother on the farm. Her gift of giving was always there along with her many apple pies.

    Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at the united Methodist Church in Afton. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood NJ.

    In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Afton Food Pantry.
