    Notes:

    Name:
Jim V. Slawson, 76 of Monroe, La. Passed peacefully on March 7th. Born in Cleveland, Ms. To the late Melvin and Alice Slawson, he has been a resident of Monroe since 1970.

Jim was the attentive, loving and proud Dad to Terry Slawson (Tammie), Toni Hodge (Paul), Scott Betz (Mona Isaac) and Sherri Betz. The Proud Pappaw Jim of Cooper Collins (Tabitha), Britney Wheat (Jeremy), Katelyn Slawson (Jamie Weems, fiancé), Justyn Slawson, Dakota and Hannah Hodge, Zak and Hannah Ponder. Great grandkids Ashton, Katy-Lynn, Christian, Eli and Lily

Jim is survived by his wife Peggy, Brothers John and Billy, Sisters Gladys, Pauline (Donny), Ella Lee and Alice ?Cookie? and his dearly loved four legged companions Taco, Bella and Target.

Jim retired from General Motors Fisher Guide in Monroe where he worked tirelessly to provide for his family and treasured life long friendships he made there.

Jim?s first love was music. Playing guitar and singing with his family and friends ?Just Us? at local church and senior functions brought him immense joy. He was also a talented wood worker. He was eager to tackle any project, fix a car or a bus with his sons, remodel a house with his daughter, help build a home or a ministry with his son. The labor of his hands was a ready gift to his friends, family and neighbors.

While he was never short on opinions, he knew his flaws and found wisdom in his struggles. His door was always open, with a cup of coffee, a listening ear and a helping hand.

Though his family finds great joy and comfort in the knowledge that he is singing with the angels, our lives are forever changed until we see him again.

The family will receive friends Sunday March 12, 2017 at First Baptist Church Monroe.

There will be a visitation from 2:00 PM until 3:30PM with funeral services at 3:30 PM and Graveside Service following at Mulhearn Memorial Park.

Jim requested Donations, in lieu of flowers to Seeker Springs Ministry.
