He and Rachel left with their family as early as 1753 or 1754 for Sandisfield, then known as "No 3 Housatonic Proprietaries," where he signed the thee Articles of Agreement. John was Proprietors' Clerk for nearly thirty years. He helped establish and was an original member of the Sandisfield Church in 1756. He serve continuously on various town, church, school and church building committees.

John married Rachel ROBBINS on 25 Oct 1738 in Wethersfield, Hartford, Connecticut, USA. Rachel was born on 11 Mar 1717/8 in Wethersfield, Hartford Co., Connecticut; died on 12 Oct 1807 in Colebrook, Connecticut. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
