    Name:
    Aleth was considered to be a very holy woman even while she lived, due to her fasts, hospital visits, and other good deeds. Tescelin was a valiant knight and a pious man.

    Tescelin and Aleth are remembered today primarily because of their extraordinarily spiritual children. One daughter (Humbeline) and three sons (Gerard, Guy, and Nivard) were beatified. Their son Bernard became St. Bernard of Clairvaus, one of the greatest saints in the history of Christianity.

    Aleth died around 1105/1110 and was first buried in the Church of St. Benigne in Dijon. Because of her son Bernard's extraordinary career, in 1250 her remains were moved to his monastery at Clairvaux.
