1733 - Abt 1771 (~ 37 years)
-
Name |
Challis SAFFORD [1] |
- He was the son of Joseph and Mary (Challis) Safford, who resided in Ipswich, Sutton, and after 1751, in Hardwick. He was first married in 1755 to Rebecca Winslow, at which time he was called of Rutland, probably the Rutland District, now Barre. He seems to have become a resident of Hardwick immediately after his marriage and lived at the north end of the Common. He was a physician, served in the French War two campaigns in Col. Ruggles' regiment; surgeon, 1757, and surgeon's mate in 1759. The date of his death is not known, but his inventory was taken June 21, 1771. [1]
