John CHAFFEE [1] |
- John Chaffee was a farmer, surveyor and teacher. He had a light complexion, blue eyes, and was six feet in height. In 1801 he was living in Athens, where in 1805 he held the office of Lister and in 1806 and 1807 that of Selectman. At various times he held nearly all the elective town offices in rochester. he and his wife were for years members of the congregational Church, but later joined the Universalist Church. [1]
