- Ella was the daughter of Samuel M. Slauson and Laura Eldred. She married Albert Bryan on 26 June 1884 in Sand Springs, Delaware, Iowa. They did not have children.
October 11, 1934 - Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Bryan, who died at the home of her nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. E.F. Smith, with whom she had made her home for many years, on Monday evening at 7:30 were held from the Smith home, 201 Lake Avenue, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30. Interment was beside her husband in the Storm Lake cemetery.
Dr. Edward L. Gibson, pastor of Lakeside Presbyterian church, officiated at the funeral. Mrs. Morten J. Hughes and Mrs. Robert Blackly sang "Lead Kindly Light" and "In the Garden" with Mrs. Edward L. Gibson as accompanist. Bearers were: M.F. Fisher, John M. Hussey, W.C. Edson, George F. Wagner, D.G. LaGrange, and Guy B. Mack.
Mrs. Ella S. Bryan was born at Little Falls, New York in 1819. The same year she came with her parents to Dubuque, Iowa. She attended Lennox College and taught in the public schools of Delaware county until 1884, when she was married to Albert L. Bryan.
Immediately following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Bryan came to Early and near there made their home until removing to Storm Lake. Mr. Bryan died in 1911.
Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Bryan had made her home with her nephew and wife, Dr. and Mrs. E.P. Smith of this city. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and of Mrs. Frank Mack?s committee of the Presbyterian Ladies Aid. She was a member of the Eastern Star for a number of years and also of the Willing Workers organization. Mrs. Bryan was well known and was beloved by all who knew her.
She is survived by none of her brothers and sisters, the last having died several years ago.
