Name |
David LYON [1] |
- He received L150 from his father's will of 2 Apr 1783. David was an officer in the American Revolution with the First New York Continental Line (1775-1776) under Col. Alexander McDougall. Captain Lyon served later in the Second Westchester Company, Colonel Thomas' regiment. David Lyon served again in Captain Spencer's Additional Continental Regiment from 12 Jan. 1777 until he resigned 10 Apr 1778. David died of smallpox in service in a lace called the sugarhouse - possibly an internment facility for prisoners of war. Family tradition has it that his body was cast to sea on the outgoing tide. Captain Lyon's estate was administered by his nephew Aaron Lyon on 30 Aug 1787. [1]
