- He was of Salem in 1648 in the service of Lawrence Southwick, the Quaker. He relocated to Providence where he took the oath of allegiance to Charles II in 1668. He was said to have been shot by an Indian while standing in the doorway of his own house at Pawtucket Ferry. [1]
