Cassie Amanda Ashmore was born in Mitchell county, Iowa July 3, 1886 and died June 8, 1935 at the age of 48 years, 11 months and 5 days.

October 25, 1905 she was united in marriage with Clarence H. Boeck. They lived on a farm in Mitchell county until 1919 when they came to Nora Springs. This was her home until death.

Wherever the deceased made her home she was always activly identified with all community interests. She was the first president of the Auxilary of the American Legion.

All her life she worked in the church. On May 9, 1932 she was baptized and formally united with the Methodist communion. To all its activities she gave unsteadly of time and energy, and served as president of the Calendar Circle until ill health compelled her resignation.

She was also a member of the Rebekahs and the Harmony and Fortnightly clubs.

Supreme among her interests was her home. She loved all the duties and responsiblities connected with it. The door was always open and a warm welcome to be found within.

In October of 1933 she suffered a serious stroke. For months she lay in bed. But due to an indomitable spirit she finally won over her affiction, and once more entered into neighborhood activities. Her friends rejoiced at her recovery, but she never fully recovered from the attack, although living each day with a fine positive spirit.

Monday evening June 3rd, while entertaining the Auxiliary, she suffered another stroke. For five days she lay unconscious. Late Saturday night God's angel of mercy came and carried her "over the river". (Rest missing)

    Mrs Hannah Slawson Pioneer, Dead
    Came to Mitchell County In
    1864-Passed Away Wednesday Afternoon

As we mentioned last week, Mrs. Hannah Slawson passed away about 5:00 o'clock after a long illness. Mrs. Slawson was one of our very oldest residents, having come to this country in 1864, coming first to Mitchell.

Hannah Bare was born on February 14, 1843, at Pacona Hill, Monroe county, Pennsylvania, and died at Osage, Iowa, on February 15, 1922.

While a small child her parents moved to Janesville, Wisconsin, and on October 25, 1858 she was married to James Slawson. They remained in Wisconsin for a time and then in 1864, came to Mitchell, where they resided for a time. Then they moved out to Rock Creek, and where she stayed until the death of her husband, on April 18, 1894. At this time the country in that part of the county was very sparsely populated, and the homes were far apart. Mrs. Slawson was always ready and willing to go to attend the sick; and was always appealed to by her neighbors in times of trouble.

Upon the death of her husband she moved to Osage, where she has lived ever since. For the past three years, her son, Everett, has lived with her.

Mr.and Mrs.Slawson were the parents of eleven children, nine of whom are living and are: Mrs. Mar Kate Ham, Henry and Everett Slawson, of Osage; Mrs. Ione Collins, Janesville, Wis.; Mrs. Ella Ashmore, Nora Springs, Mrs. Cora Bisbee, Langdon, Iowa; Joseph, St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Agnes Smith, Fullerton, Calif., and Mrs Vinnie Purvine, of Okmulgee, Okla.

Her death came last Wednesday afternoon at 5 o'clock, after many weeks of sickness.

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the Baptist church, Dr. A. S. Cross, assisted by Rev. W. T. Smith, conducting the service, and burial was made in the Osage cemetery.
