    He was probably the John Brownell who owned the Harry S. Brownell place. His will in book 1, page 243, made 3 Feb. 1759; part to be the west middle third. To daughter Mary Wilbour one third of household goods. to daughter Martha Ormsby one third homestead farm. To grandsons John Ormsby and Thomas Ormsby one third of homestead farm. To grandson John Willbor one third homestead farm his part to be the southerly part and my woodland bounded east on the highway that leadeth by the Indian meeting house, north and west by William Pearce and south by the land of Elizabeth Davnport with all the buildings, etc. To grandson John Shaw 100 pounds. To granddaughter Mary Shaw one feather bed. To granddaughter Mary Wilbour one feather bed. to granddaughter Olive Ormsby my looking glass and gold necklace. To my daughter Martha Ormsby my riding beast and one third household goods. To grandson John Wilbur my negro man named Saul and my Negro woman named Genney..."

    His will, made in 1730 and proved in Little Compton 20 June 1732: "....To wife Mary Brownell one half of my dwelling house and one half my orchard to be for her use during her life, all bills and bonds and 50 pounds a year, and all my Negroes, she to be my executrix. To sons Thomas, John, George and Jeremiah 10 pounds each and I confirm a deed of land to each of them. To son Charles all farming tools and one half of my stock. I also confirm a deed of land to him. to grand-daughter Mary Carr 10 pounds and two chests marked T.B...."

    In her will Mary Brownell left to her four sons "1 shilling each, to grandson Samuel Brownell 1 feather bed, bolster and coverlid. to brother George Pearce my mair and he to pay to my son John Brownell 8 pounds which 8 pounds I give to him....To granddaughter Mary Carr money bills and bonds of mine."
