    PLAINVILLE EARLY SETTLER DIES
    Mrs. G. F. Slason
    Mrs. Slason, mother of our townsman, B. C. Slason, died at her home at Plainville early Sunday morning after suffering from a severe cold or an attack of influenza for a few days. She had been in poor health and quite feeble for some time. Her son F. E. Slason and his wife and made their home with her for about a year. She was an early settler on the flats, her husband, the late G. F. Slason, having taken a homestead a half mile from the townsite on the west, in February, 1878. He died in 1906, and during the whole period of 42 years she had made her home there.

    The funeral services were conducted at the home on Monday afternoon by Rev. Carlton of the M. E. church, and the good mother was placed by the side of her life companion in the Plainville cemetery.

    Elizabeth L. Leonard was born near the town of Rutland, Vermont, April 24, 1845. She was married in 1864 to G. F. Slason just before he went to the war. They moved to Iowa in 1866 and to Rooks county, Kansas, in the spring of 1878. Five children were born, two dying in infancy. The surviving children are: Mrs. Lena Stalnaker and Frank E. Slason, of Plainville, and B. C. Slason of Stockton. She was a faithful and devout member of the Methodist church all her life. She abounded in good works and was beloved by all who knew her.
