Robert Radcliffe, K.B., K.G., Lord Fitz Walter, first surviving son and heir of John Radcliffe, Lord Fitz Walter, of Guildford, Surrey by Margaret, daughter ofRichard Whetehill, Esq., Mayor of Calais. He was born about 1483. He was attached to the court of Prince Arthur as a boy. He was summoned to Parliament from 28 Nov 1511 by writs directed 'Roberto Radclyff de Fitzwater, Chivaler'. He accompanied King Henry VIII on the expedition to Tournai and Therouanne in 1513 and was at the Field of the Cloth of Gold in 1520. He was created Earl of Sussex on 8 Dec 1529. He was Great Chamberlain of England for life from 3 Aug 1540.
Robert married Margaret STANLEY between 11 May and 1 Sep 1532. Margaret (daughter of Thomas STANLEY and Anne HASTINGS) died after Jan 1533/4. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Name:
John Radcliffe, Lord Fitz Walter, of Guildford, Surrey, son and heir, was born on 1 Jan 1451/2. He was appointed Steward of the King's Household before 19 Oct 1485. On 14 Jan 1485/6 he was appointed joint Warden and Chief Justice of the King's forests South of Trent, and 25 February following, of all the King's forests, for life. He was summoned to parliament from 15 Sep 1485 by writs directed 'Johanni radclyff', de FitzWauter'. John Radcliffe, Lord Fitz Walter, was attainted of high treason in 1495 as a confederate of Piers, or Perkin, Warbeck, and was beheaded at Calais, about 24 Nov 1496.

Thomas Stanley, K.B., Earl of Derby, son and heir of George Stanley, Lord Strange, by Joan daughter and heiress of John le Strange, Lord Strange, of Knokyn. He was born before 1485 and was grandson and heir of Thomas Stanley, 1st Earl of Derby. He succeeded to the Earldom ofDerby, and later succeeded his mother as Lord Strange (of Knokin), and Mohun (of Dunster). He attended King Henry VIII in the French expedition in 1513, was at the battle of Spurs on 18 Aug 1513, and attended the Emperor Charles V at Dover in 1520.
Thomas married Anne HASTINGS before 1503. Anne (daughter of Edward HASTINGS, Knt. and Mary HUNGERFORD) died on 17 Nov 1550. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
