OBITUARY: "Thelma Mae Face age 89 of Albion passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at The Legacy of The Oaks in Battle Creek, Michigan. She was born May 2, 1929 to Roy and Waive (Calkins) Herriff in Albion, Michigan. She was married to Creed Howard Henson who preceded her in death then she married Leroy Face who also preceded her in death.
Thelma lived most of her life in Albion. She was a 1947 Graduate of Albion High School. Active in the V.F.W. Auxiliary for 65 years, Hospital Service League in Albion, active at Burnside & Forks Senior Center. She was an officer in the Albion Free Methodist Church. Thelma also enjoyed Sewing, baking, cooking, jig saw puzzles, liked to read and spending time with her family. She received an Albion NAACP award as ?Outstanding Citizen?- Four Chaplains Award from the ?National V.F.W.?.
Thelma is survived by her children, sons, Allen (Judy) Henson, Vance (Theresa) Henson, Harold (Teri) Face; daughter, Janet (Lloyd) Bernard; twenty grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, newborn son Duane Henson, daughter Karen Peace, brother Karl Herriff, sisters Leota Sleeper and Elsie Trippet, step-son Richard Face, infant grandson Bradley Winnie and grandson Dale Winnie Sr.
Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 4:00-8:00PM at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion. Funeral Service will be Thursday, March 14 at 11:00AM with visitation starting at 10:00AM at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Bolton officiating. Interment to follow at Albion Memory Gardens.
Memorial contributions can be made to the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #9411 of Homer or Albion Free Methodist Church.
