  1. 1.  Joseph CRANE was born on 19 May 1759 (son of Abiah CRANE and Mary TYLER); died on 31 Mar 1819 in Williamstown, Vermont.

    Name:
    He was enrolled among the list of Revolutionary soldiers in Williamstown, Vermont. He was one of the first settlers of Williamstown, Vermont. His wife was drawn in on a hand-sled. She was given a lot of land for being the first woman to settle in the town. Her Mr. Crane purchased 300 acres of land, and with his axe felled the fist tree cut in the town. All his children were born here. He was a member of the Legislature of Vermont, and went from Tolland, Conn. Eleanor Buck taught first school in Williamstown, 1793.

    Joseph married Eleanor BUCK in Dec 1792. Eleanor was born in 1765; died on 13 May 1832 in Williamstown, Vermont. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
