Richard Cotton, Esq., of Combermere, son and heir, was born about 1540 (aged twenty-one and more at mother's death). He built the Combermere manor house in 1563, incorporating the remains of the Abbey. He married Mary Mainwaring, and they had three sons and four daughters.

Richard married Mary MAINWARING on 6 Jan 1559/60 in Combermere. Mary (daughter of Arthur MAINWARING, Knt. and Margaret MAINWARING) was born about 1541 in Ightfield, co. Salop; died before 14 Jun 1578. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

1. Frances COTTON was born about 1573; died before 16 Apr 1646.

Richard married Jane SULLIARD on 14 Jun 1578 in St Olave's, Old Jewry, London. Jane died before 20 Feb 1603/4. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

George Cotton, Knt., of Combermere, co. Chester, Sheriff of Denbighshire Esquire of the Body to King Henry VIII, second son, was born at Cotton, co. Salop, about 1505. He married Mary Onley, they had one son and four daughters. He and his wife wereg ranted the abbey of Combermere by the King, and the manors of Wilkesley and Pulton, co. Chester.

George married Mary ONLEY before 11 Nov 1537 in Combermere. Mary died on 14 Mar 1559/60. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
