John Wingfield, Knt., of Tickercote, Rutland, Sheriff of Ruthlandshire, son and heir of John Wingfield, Knt., by Elizabeth, daughter of Paul Gresham, of Tickercote, co. Rutland, was born about 1594 (aged eight years at death of mother in 1602). He had been married previously to Jane Turpine, daughter of William Turpine, Knt., of Knaptoft, co. Leicester. John and Frances had four sons and two daughters.

John married Frances CROMWELL about 30 Jan 1619. Frances (daughter of Edward CROMWELL and Elizabeth UPTON) died before 25 Jun 1662. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

1. John WINGFIELD was born in of Tickencote, Rutland, York Herald; was christened on 25 Jun 1623 in Tickencote; died on 30 Dec 1678 in "in the Kings Bench"; was buried in St. George's church.
