John Wells Slosson, 87, formerly of Bridgman, of South Haven passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017, in Mishawaka, Ind.


A private graveside service will be at Ruggles Cemetery, Baroda. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Boyd Chapel of Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman.

John was born July 26, 1929, in Benton Harbor, the son of the late Frank and Helen (Wells) Slosson. He is a graduate of Benton Harbor High School, attended Lake Michigan College and Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo. John was a partner in the Slossons Party Store in Benton Harbor, as well as other real estate investments. After semi-retiring, he worked at the Hardings in Bridgman until turning 80 years old.


He is survived by his son, Mark (Mary Healy) Slosson; daughter, Karol Ann Doolin; and their mother, Jeanne Slosson; along with their grandchildren: Scott R. Slosson, Nathan and Michael Doolin; and 10 nieces and nephews.

John was also preceded in death by his daughters, Debbie and Donna; brothers, Frank Slosson Jr., Charles Slosson; and sisters, Elsie Webber and Hazel Pullins.

John married Bobetta Jeanne WEBER on 26 Jan 1952 in Benton Harbor, Berrien Co., Michigan. Bobetta was born on 24 Dec 1929 in Benton Harbor, Berrien Co., Michigan; died on 26 Jul 2018 in South Haven, Van Buren Co., Michigan; was buried in Ruggles Cemetery, Baroda, Berrien Co., Michigan. Jeanne Slosson, 88, of Bridgman passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Countryside Nursing Home in South Haven. She was in the care of South Haven Hospice.

A celebration of her life will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Papa Vino's in St. Joseph. Jeanne will be laid to rest at Ruggles Cemetery in Baroda.

Jeanne was born on Dec. 24, 1929, to George and Ailene Weber in Benton Harbor. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School. She married John Wells Slosson, and they had two children, Mark R. Slosson and Karol Ann (Slosson) Doolin. She was a stay-at-home mom during their younger years. She worked at Industrial Rubber, Goldblatt's, Creative Foods and the Whitcomb Towers in later years.

Jeanne will be missed by her children, Mark R. (Mary Healy) Slosson and Karol Ann (Slosson) Doolin; three grandchildren: Scott R. Slosson, Santa Ana, Calif.; John Nathan (Valeri) Doolin and John Michael Doolin of Bowling Green, Ky.; great-granddaughter, Everly Rose Doolin; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ailene Weber; her twin daughters, Debra and Donna Slosson; her former husband, John Wells Slosson; her brother, Chuck Weber; her sister, Jacqueline; and her half brothers: Harley Weber, Melvin Weber and Al Weber."
