    A lifelong resident of Bedford, New York, Granger Fancher was the only son of Joseph Monroe Fancher and Matilda (Lockwood) Fancher. He had three sisters: Emma Estella, Mary "Etta," and Ella Jane.

    He attended the Bedford Academy, in the building that now houses the public library in Bedford Village.

    Granger married Annie May Scofield, daughter of Russell Scofield and Mary "Amanda" (Adams) Scofield, on June 21, 1899, in Pound Ridge, NY.

    They had four children:

    Albert Russell (married Hazel Beatrice McLaughlin)
    Harry (married Ruth Miriam Porter)

    He worked as a carpenter.
