    Here lyeth interred the body of the Rev. Sam'l Seabury, A.M. Rector of the Parish of Hempstead who with the greatest diligence and most indefatigable labour for 13 years at New London and 21 years in the Parish having discharged every duty of his sacred functions died the 15th of June A.D. 1764, aged 58. In gratitude to the memory of the best of husbands, his disconsolate widow, Elizabeth Seabury, hath placed this stone.
