"At the residence of the bride's parents, four miles northwest of Elgin, on Thursday, May 5, 1881, by the Rev. C.K. Colver, a former paster of the Elgin Baptist Church, now of Chicago, Mr. Robert Kerr, of Chicago and Miss Jennie Padelford, daughter of J. R. and P. Padelford.
There was present some fify guests to witness the very impressive and instructive ceremony, after which a bountiful repast was served to which all ample justice. Mr. Kerr is a young man of good business habits and christian character. They will reside in Chicago, where he is engaged in business."
