  1. 1.  Lieut. Abraham FANCHER was born on 10 Dec 1754 in New Canaan, Fairfield, Connecticut, USA (son of John FANCHER and Hannah WEED); died on 6 Feb 1838 in Amsterdam, New York.

    Name:
    He was a blacksmith. Moved to Frederickstown, Duchess County, about 1782-83 and was there in the 1790 census. He had a blacksmith shop in Middlebush, near Poughkeepsie, for a while, then moved to Schodack, Rensselaer Co., about 1798 and was there in the 1800 census.

    Abraham Fancher served in the Third and Fourth Regiments of Westchester County Militia during the Revolution. He was a sergeant in Capt. Lewis' Company, Col. Thaddeus Crane's Regiment (Public Papers of George Clinton, vol. 7, p. 509); and in Capt. Benjamin Chapman's Company (Salem) he is recorded as "Abraham Fansher, 2nd Lieut."

    Name:
    John Fancher served in the First Regiment of Westchester County Militia as a lieutenant. It is also noted that he served 18 days in 1757 under Captain Lewis and was a private in Captain Lewis' Company, Col. thaddeus Crane's 4th Regiment of Wetchester County militia. He took a leading part in the establishment of the Presbyterian Church in Poundridge, NY.

    John married Hannah WEED on 27 Jun 1754 in Canaan, Litchfield, Connecticut, USA. Hannah (daughter of Abraham WEED and Naomi POND) was born on 26 May 1737 in Stamford, Fairfield, Connecticut, USA; died on 09 Mar 1823 in Berne, New York. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
