Excerpt from "Dawes-Gates and Allied Families": Alexander married at Saybrook, September 29, 1649, Katherine Post. Tradition says that he was killed in 1675 in the Narragansett War, being one of the eight men drawn from Saybrook for service in that campaign. "his sword is still preserved by his descendants. The names of the others have not been preserved." However, other writers believe him to have died in or before 1673 for, on September 23, 1673 a "Kathern Chalker" was married to John Hill, of Guilford, and many writers have drawn the conclusion that it was the widow of Alexander rather than the daughter of the same name. The statement that Alexander was killed in the Narragansett fight in 1675 is further upheld in an article telling of the will of Daniel Grinnell March 4, 1724, Abraham Chalker, Jr., son of Abraham Chalker, Sr., and grandson of "Alexander Chalker who was killed in the Narragansett fight."

Alexander married Katherine POST on 29 Sep 1649 in Saybrook, Middlesex, Connecticut, USA. Katherine (daughter of Stephen POST and Eleanor PANTON) was born before 15 Sep 1627 in Hollingbourne, Kent, England; died between 09 Jan 1693 and 18 Sep 1694 in Guilford, Connecticut.
