    Name:
    Jan. 1736, Samuel Gleason bought the Daniel Howe tavern, including 16 acres, with house and barn, where he kept a public tavern many years; was Sergt. in French and Indian war on roll dated April 26, 1757; Lieut. in Framingham militia 1764; March 5, 1770 chosen overseer of the workhouse. In 1771 he was on a committee to examine meeting house and report the repairs to be made.

  1. 2.  John GLEASON was born in 1683 in Sherborn, Massachusetts (son of Thomas GLEASON and Sarah ?); died on 9 May 1740 in Framingham, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts.

    Name:
    John Gleason's name is the first recorded on a tax list June 2, 1710, 2s 5d. He and his brother Isaac received the greater portion of the estate of their father Thomas Gleason. July 11, 1711, he was a signer of a petition to purchase lands from the Indians; on March 24, 1712, he was on a committee to regulate disorders in the meeting house. During the winter of 1714 school was kept one month in his house. On March 5, 1715, he was given charge of the town stock of ammunition. April 19, 125, he was on a committee to arrange for the erection of a new meeting house; Dec. 1730 was a signer of a petition to the general court to have the town of Framingham divided. The records of 1735 contain the following entry: "In this year Wm. Pike sold for L14 to John Gleason & four others, intrust for the whole town of Framingham, 4 acres of land." He was selectman 1718-21-31.
