    Name:
    He was of Salem in 1648 in the service of Lawrence Southwick, the Quaker. He relocated to Providence where he took the oath of allegiance to Charles II in 1668. He was said to have been shot by an Indian while standing in the doorway of his own house at Pawtucket Ferry.

    John married Rebecca BROWNE in 1661 in Smithfield. Rebecca was born about 1642 in Providence, Rhode Island; died on 15 Dec 1700 in Providence, Providence Co., Rhode Island. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Name:
    Richard Scott; b. 9 Sep 1605 Glemsford, co. Suffolk; d. 1679/80 Providence. He was the son of Edward and Sarah (Carter) Scott of Glemsford. he was a shoemaker. He immigrated on 4 Sep 1633 to Boston on the ship "Griffin". He was admitted to full communion on 28 Aug 1634 First Church, Boston. Although he was admitted to the church, his wife Catherine did not join, nor his children Richard, John, Mary or Patience. He is on the list of freeman in 1655, and was among the Quaker converts in 1658. His wife, "an ancient woman," was imprisoned and whipped at Boston for "benevolent service in diffusion of hr opinions." Her daughters Mary and Patience also were imprisoned "by equal impolicy."

    Richard married Katherine MARBURY on 7 Jun 1632 in Berkhampstead, co. Hertford . Katherine (daughter of Rev Francis MARBURY and Bridget DRYDEN) was born about 1610 in Alford, co. Lincoln; died on 2 May 1687 in Newport, Newport Co., Rhode Island. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
