Excerpt from "connecticut Puritan Settlers": While Silas continued at Wethersfield, he was highly respected and employed in public business. He sold his estate, and expected to remove with his family to Canaan, Conn., in the spring of 1741, where he purchased a large tract of land. He also purchased lands in Dutchess county, New York, and Berkshire county, Mass., for the purposes of setling his children on his new lands. In the autumn of 1741, he returned to Wethersfield, to close his concers there, and remove his family to Canaan. He was seized with a malignant dysentery, while a Wethesfield, and died.

Silas married Abigail ROBBINS on 30 Nov 1716. Abigail was born about 1697 in Wethersfield, Hartford, Connecticut, USA; died on 16 Feb 1783 in Dutchess, New York. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

1. Jonathan BELDEN was born on 16 Nov 1737 in Wethersfield, Hartford, Connecticut, USA; died on 09 Jan 1778 in Canaan, Litchfield County, Connecticut; was buried in Grassy Hills Cemetery, Falls Village, Connecticut.
2. Lydia BELDEN was born on 03 Mar 1730 in Wethersfield, Hartford, Connecticut, USA.

Excerpt from "Belden/Baildon": Selectman 1695, appointed Ens. 1703, later lt., and deacon. Owned interest in Lead mines at Middletown. Deeded property to sons Silas and Jonathan Jan 23, 1724/5 in consideration that parental love and affection.

Mary (daughter of Thomas WRIGHT, Jr. and Elizabeth CHITTENDEN) was born on 04 Mar 1664; died on 08 Sep 1741; was buried in Ancient Burying Ground, Wethersfield, Hartford County, Connecticut.
