- Joseph Algernon "Al" Slawson, 74, a retired self-employed paint contractor, died Aug. 12, 1990.
Mr. Slawson, a native of Stem, N.C., was a baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Stirling Slawson; two daughters, Sandra deForaf and Sharlet Scarbrow both of Virginia Beach; two sons, James Steven Slawson of Denver; and Joseph William Slawson of Houston; ; a sister, Eva S. Cash of Creedmoore, N.C.; and six grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at noon Saturday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens by Father Edward L. Richardson. Friends may join the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel.
