Name |
James II King Of ENGLAND [1, 2] |
- James ascended the throne on the death of his brother, Charles II, in 1685. His intention of restoring Catholicism, and his policies, led to conflict with Church and Parliament. The birth of a son, and potential Catholic monarch, in 1688 intensified the conflict, and within six months he was forced to flee into exile. [1]
