- BANDIT PAIR BRAZEN IN CITY'S NINTH HOLDUP
Vancouver, B.C - Using a new, more brazen approach, two armed bandits Friday night held up Grant Slosson in his east-end home and escaped with his wallet containing about $100 cash in Vancouver's ninth holdup case in eight days.
Slosson said he was entertaining three friends when someone knocked at his door. He was confronted by two men who first asked for a drink of water. Then one produced a gun and said: 'This is a stick-up, fork it over.'
After frisking Slosson, they forced him and his friends into a bedroom, and one was heard to remark: 'I wasn't in the army for nothing.' No attempt was made to rob the others.
Slosson's $100 brought to more than $5,400 the loot in cash jewelry and checks from holdings here in the last eight days.
