    • Austin Verl Halls "My Sweetheart" On the evening of November 9, 2006, I lost my sweetheart, Austin, after a long battle with congestive heart failure. He was born March 14, 1926 in Star Valley, Wyoming to Dale W. and Della May Halls. He married Norma Lee Dean October 1, 1948. Together they had six children. Norma passed away in 1993. He met and married the new love of his life, Margaret R. (Peggy) Smith Denison August 1, 1996. They had 10 wonderful years together. Austin Verl was raised and educated in Star Valley, Wyoming. He served in the Army during World War II on the front lines. After his discharge, he worked very hard providing for his family in the heavy construction field, working in several states and job capacities. After retiring, he spent much of his time fixing his yard and enjoying the outdoors. He enjoyed going to St. George with family and traveling to other areas to visit family and friends. Austin Verl loved to work with his hands, whether it be garden work, car repairs, or working with Scouts. His greatest joy was creating something from nothing. His accomplishments are too many to mention. The character, integrity, and honesty that were an everyday part of how he lived are his greatest legacy he left for all of us. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; and children, Linda L. Cummings Smekens (David), Alan V. Halls (Delia), Jean Thompson (Willard), Kathryn Child, Scott Halls (Karin); and stepchildren, Gordon K. Denison (Sandy), Kathryn D. Olsen (David). Also survived by his siblings, Dee Porter Halls (Velma), Beverly Schaedla, and Nord Halls (Sally); 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grand-children; nine step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma L. Dean Halls; daughter, Cynthia Ann Halls; both parents; brothers, William Lynn Halls and Keith Porter Halls; and step-grandson, Jeffery G. Denison. Funeral services will be held Wed-nesday, Nov. 15th, 11:30 a.m. at the Union Fort 6th Ward chapel, 6710 South 1300 East, Midvale, Utah. A family and friends gathering will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 14 at Memorial Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East and 10:15 a.m. Wednesday prior to services at the church. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Cemetery. Everybody will miss your killer smile and your big blue eyes!
