- Charles Rix of this city died Monday afternoon, Jan. 13, after a lingering sickness, with tuberculosis, a form of consumption, aged 32 years. He was born in Middleport, NY and came to the State with his parents when five years old, settling in Manchester. He served his country faithfully in the late war, being a member of company A, eighth Michigan cavalry. He was a carriage builder by trade, and was a skillful workman. He leaves a wife and family of small children. yesterday a telegram was received, stating that his father died in Dowagiac, Tuesday, within twenty-four hours after the death of his son.
