Rev. Ebenezer Rossiter, b. Feb. 4, 1699, was the first of the name that came to Stonington, Conn. he was the seventeenth and youngest child of Josiah and Sarah (Sherman) Rossiter, and grandson of Dr. Benjamin and Elizabeth Rossiter, and great-grandson of Edward Rossiter of Plymouth, Eng., from which he came to this country in 1630, with the Rev. John Warham and others, and settled in Dorchester, Mass. Rev. Ebenezer Rossiter was a graduate of Yale College in 1718. he was the second minister of the First Congregational Church, Stonington, and was ordined Dec. 19, 1722, which relation he sustained until his death, Oct. 11, 1762. He was a devoted, earnest and successful minister of the gospel. He m. hannah White Oct. 7, 1723, daughter of the Rev. Ebenezer White of Long Island. [1, 2]
