  Notes	I originally had Anna as the wife of John Tongue but due to the following I have corrected that. Excerpt from NEHG Reg. Oct, 2009, 163: Raymond David Wheeler, "the Wheeler Genealogy: the Wheler Family of Cranfield, Bedfordshire, Settlers of Colonial New England, 4 vols. states John tongue and Anna Wheler were married at New London 25 Nov 1700. New London Vital ecords, 1896 official transcription shows that marriage as two separate marriages: one on 21 November 1701, the other on 25 November 1702. to resolve this apparent problem, R.D. Wheeler, "Wheeler Genealogy", 3:6, 130-31, shows Anna Wheeler, born August 20, 1675, daughte of Isaac Wheeler of Stonington, as the first wifem and Anna Wheler, born 1 January 1686/7, daughter of John Wheeler of New London, as the second wife (the two women were possibly cousins). Nevertheless, John Tongue had only wife, and she clearly was the daughter of John Wheeler, despite the fact she was only 14 when married (Lynn Haims, "Wills of Two Early New York Poets: Henricus Selyns and Richard Steer," 'the New York Genealogical and Biographical Record 108. No church marriage is shown in Frederic W. Bailey, ed., 'Earl Connecticut Marriages as Found on ancient Church records Prior to 1800.
