Name |
Jonathan ROFF [1] |
- Jonathan was the son of Daniel and Mary (?Knights) Roff. He died after 2 August 1722, when the birth of his last child was recorded and before 15 June 1729, when Ann (Shapley)Avery) Roff's intention of marriage was published. The name is also found under the spellings of Rapp, Roffe, Ropp, and Ruff.
On 11 December 1711, Jonathan Ruff of Norwich, administrator with sureties Caleb Bushnell of Norwich and Joseph Truman of New London posted bond on the estate of Thomas Avery, Jr. The inventory, dated 11 December 1712, was taken by John Plumbe and C. Christophers, and listed the children as Thomas, aged 6 years of age, and Ann, aged 4 years. Ann (Shapley) (Avery) Ruff, Relict of Thomas Avery, appeared to make oath to the correctness of the inventory.
Ann (Shapley) Roff was admitted to the First Congregational Church of Christ in New London, on 15 June 1718.
Jonathan Ruff of New London, the second husband of Ann (Shapley) (Avery) Ruff, evidently died intestate but no probate record was listed in New London. [1]
