    Mr. Clay is a prominent Odd Fellow; has passed the chair in both the lodge and camp, in fact has held every office in the lodge. he began his mechanical work as a stone-cutter, but his health partially failing, he gave it up and took to nursing, which he followed for about twenty years, when he abandoned that for a position as assistant keeper at the New Hampshire State House. He is a member of the Baptist Church as also his wife and children.
