    Major Edward Eells was in the militia service, organized in 1774. He fought with Col. Samuel Wylly's and Col. Comfort Sage. He fought in the war from April 21, 1775 to June 1783 and fought from Bunker Hill to Yorktown. He was also one of the founders of the Society of the Cincinnati. Who's first president was General George Washington.

    Rachel Stanley married second, John Eells, son of rev. Edward Eells, of upper Middletown, October 12, 1806. His first wife was Elizabeth Lord of Middletown, by whom he had seven children. He was a weaver by trade, and lived in New Britain on the "new Highway" leading from Stanley Quarter to Hartford. He removed about 181 to Lenox, Mass., where he died November 3, 1840, aged eighty-seven, and his wife November 16, 1835, aged seventy-four.
