    David Ellison Licklider died at his home at 801 west North street about four o'clock Saturday afternoon from the result of a second stroke of paralysis. Mr. Licklider had been a resident of Piqua for the past 33 years.
    He was born in Virginia in 1828 and went to California in 1849, being one of the famous old "forty niners." He afterwards served through the civil war in the 66th O. V. I.
    After he returned from the war he married Miss Elizabeth Buxton, who died in 1869. In 1892 he was married to Miss Sarah Slauson, of Piqua, who survives him.
    When he first came to Piqua Mr. Licklider followed the trade of a brick mason, but afterwards was in the insurance business, for several years. Since his first stroke of paralysis in 1893 he was unable to take an active part in any business. About one year since his health began to improve, but last Monday he was taken seriously ill and sank rapidly.
    Besides his widow he leaves three daughters, Mrs. Ada McLean, of Peabody, Mrs. Ida Hardesty, of Piqua, and Mrs. Anna Smith, of Covington.
    He had been an active member of the Greene street M. E. church since 1872, and for some years a member of the church's official board. He was a member of I. O. O. F. number 8, of Piqua, and also of the Miami encampment of the order.
    Beside his widow and daughters the deceased leaves a brother in Piqua, a brother and sister in Carysville, and a sister in St. Paris.
    The funeral services will be held from the Greene street M. E. church at half past two Tuesday afternoon. Interment at Forest Hill.

    David married Sarah Ann SLAUSON on 11 Sep 1883 in Miami County, Ohio. Sarah (daughter of John Dufrees SLAUSON and Betsey Ann KEELER) was born on 8 Aug 1836 in Baldwinsville, Onondaga Co., New York; died on 20 May 1927 in Eaglesville, Ashtabula Co., Ohio; was buried in Eagleville Cemetery, Eagleville, Ashtabula Co., Ohio.
