    The Berkshire Historical Society Collections (p. 93) state that Samuel Eddy is one of those "who is recommended and received from distant places "to the Church of Christ as Cheshire. He seems to have lived in Windsor. Perhaps he went there later, but he was established there in 1777 when the Revolutionary War needed help from that section to protect Vermont. He was one of the famous company of "Silver Grays", which marched for the defense of Bennington.

    Samuel married Rachel SMITH on 7 Mar 1754 in Scituate, Rhode Island. Rachel was born in 1736 in Scituate, Providence Co., Rhode Island; died on 6 Apr 1811 in Dorset, Bennington Co., Vermont; was buried in North Dorset Cemetery, North Dorset, Bennington Co., Vermont.
