    KANNAPOLIS - Mrs. Dezree Slawson Green McNeely, 88, 7150 Drakestone Road, died Thursday, July 15, 2004, at NorthEast Medical Center after declining health of 10 months.


    The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Bethpage Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis. Dr. Steven Mowery and the Rev. Amy Busiek will officiate. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park.


    The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Whitley?s Funeral Home. At other times they will be at 7150 Drakestone Road, Kannapolis, the home of a daughter, Phyllis G. Brown.


    Born June 20, 1916, in Winston County, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Henry Malvin Slawson and Nancy Liddel Slawson. She was employed with Cannon Mills Company Plant No. 1 sheet department for 45 years until her retirement. She was a member of Bethpage Presbyterian Church, Kannapolis, where she had been active in circle work for many years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was a resident of the area for most of her life.


    She was preceded in death by her husband, James Leonard Green, and a grandson, Gene Leonard Brown II, and a great-grandson, Joshua Holden Bost, who died March 2002.


    Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Brown and husband, Gene, Kannapolis; two granddaughters, Angie Brown, Kannapolis, and Wendy Bost and husband, Allen, Concord; two great-grandsons, Isaac Russell Bost and Panner Allen Bost; a sister, Ione Browning, Greenville, Miss.; and numerous nieces and nephews.


    Memorials may be made to First Assembly Living Center, 160 Warren C. Coleman Blvd., Concord, NC 28027 or Bethpage Presbyterian Church, 6020 Mooresville Road, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
