  1. 1.  Thomas WELLS, IV was born about 1678 in Deerfield, Franklin Co., Massachusetts; died about 1750.

    Excerpt from "The Descendants of William Beardsley and Mary Harvey" by Ellwood Count Curtis:
    Captain Thomas was a gragoon in the Pomroy pursuit in 1698. In 1725 he led a large scouting party to the frontiers of Canada with Joseph Clesson for his Lieutenant. He was a prominent participant in the settlement of Fall Town.
    He was a trader. Among his public services he was a surveyor and a selectmand for twelve years. He left a lot of real estate to his nephew Captain Thomas Dickinson. He raised Susannah Wells, his niece, and also willed her a lot of land. He gae a silver tankard to the church. His estate ws probated on 3 April 1750.

    Thomas married Sarah BARNARD on 29 Mar 1700. Sarah (daughter of Joseph BARNARD and Sarah STRONG) was born on 30 Dec 1677. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
