    Ivan LeRoy Slawson, son of Swift and Sue Slawson, deceased, was born near McLouth November 12, 1884.

    In 1905, he and his parents moved to Oakley. May 19, 1909, he was married to Letitia Zabriskie, McLouth. To this union, five children were born: two sons, Milan and Mervin; three daughters, Vivian, Valda and Ruby.

    Failing health caused Mr. Slawson to close his business at Oakley and he made his home with his daughter, Vivian Stone, of Wichita, where he passed away May 15, 1951, age 66 years, 6 months and 3 days.

    Those who survive him are Mrs. Letitia Slawson, Kansas City; Mr. and Mrs. Milan Slawson, Culver City, California; Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Slawson, Santa Maria, California; Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Stone, Wichita; Mr. and Mrs. John Price, Leob; Mr. and Mrs. Olan Fisher, Waynesville, Missouri; eight grandchildren; one brother, Fergison Slawson, Oskaloosa; other relatives and a host of friends.

    Milan LeRoy Slawson, 90, of Colby died June 29, 2000, at Colby.

    Milan LeRoy Slawson, the son of Ivan LeRoy and Letitia Jesse Zabriskie Slawson, was born March 26, 1910, at Oakley. The family moved to Lebo in 1927 and he graduated from Lebo High School in 1929. He married Anna May Thompson of Strawn on Aug. 14, 1938, at the Harveyville Methodist Church. They moved from Kansas City, Kan., to Culver City, Calif., in 1949. She died Oct. 20, 1994. He remained in California until he moved to Colby because of ill health. His niece Sharee Fromholtz was his caretaker in Colby.

    Mr. Slawson also is survived by three sisters, Valda Sue Price of Emporia, Vivian Agnes Stone of Wichita and Ruby June Fisher of El Dorado; a brother, Mervin Zabriskie Slawson of Santa Maria, Calif.; and several other nieces and nephews, including Terry Dean Price, Alan Gene Price, Rocky Price, DeAnn Knaak and Sierra Sue Huddleston, all of Emporia.

    Mervin Z. Slawson 91, born May 6, 1913 of Santa Maria, Passed away Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Marian West Hospital.

    A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 16, 2005 at 4pm at Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary.

    Private inurnment in the Dudley-Hoffman Memory Garden.

    Mervin was born in Kansas in 1913. He served in the US Army from 1942-1945. May 10 of 1942 he married Dorothy Walline. After attending art school in Los Angeles, and at the request of Captain Allan Hancock, Mervin moved to Santa Maria in 1946 to work for the USC college of Aeronautics as a Link Trainer instructor, mechanic, and photographer. From 1958-1978, Mervin was a photography instructor at Santa Maria High School, producing 18 yearbooks during that time. He was a member of Hesperian Lodge #264 since 1956. Throughout his years, Mervin had a deep love and interest in photography, raising Orchids, collecting stamps, and fishing in Colorado. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

    Mervin is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Slawson; a daughter Sharee Fromholtz from Colorado, sisters Valda Price, Vivian Stone, and Ruby Fisher all living in Kansas, and by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
