    Name:
    Ruth Serles m. Nathan Crary, son of Peter Crary, and wife, Christobel Gallup, that family of Groton, in 1788. She was b. in Preston, Conn., where her parents were living at the time, in the year 1755. Her father removed with his family in 1773 to Wyoming, Pa., where he and his son-in-law, Capt. Dethic Hewitt, were both killed in the battle and massacre of Wyoming, July 3, 1778. Ruth's bother swam the iver to get away the next morning. Ruth and her sister, Sarah or Sally, as she was called, came away from Wyoming with some of the Gallup friends, and after reaching Groton, ruth taught school for a while and was in the family of Nathan Crary before the death of his wife. At the of his marriage to Ruth Searles he was over 70 years old, and she was a little more than 20. they were married in 1788.

    Ruth married Nathan CRARY on 16 May 1788 in Groten, New London Co., Connecticut. Nathan (son of Peter CRARY, Jr. and Ann CULVER) was born on 07 Oct 1717 in Groton, New London Co., Conn.; died on 24 Mar 1798. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
