    Mrs. Beulah G. Slawson, 79, of Stilwell in Johnson County, died recently at a hospital in Paola, Kans. She was born in Iberia, Mo., and had lived in the Kansas City area 22 years. Mrs. Slawson was a member of the Iberia Methodist Church.

    She leaves three sons, Burl Slawson, Stilwell, Leland Slawson, Belton, and Merle Slawson, Galena, Mo.; a daughter, Mrs. Mabel Feris, Stillwell; a brother, Nim Martin, Garden City in Cass County; two sisters, Mrs. Stella Wall, Iberia and Mrs. Blanche Routon, Prairie Village, Kansas; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

    Services were held at the Bruce Chapel in Johnson County and burial was in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens.

    Leland Lloyd "Pete" Slawson, 83, of Louisburg, Kan., passed away April 8, 2008, at the St. Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo.

    Memorial services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S. Webster, PO Box 7, Spring Hill, Kan., (913) 592-2244. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. before the service. Inurnment at Johnson County Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

    Pete was born May 12, 1924, in Pratt, Kan., to Claude C. and Beulah (Martin) Slawson. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947. He was a truck driver and retired from Reno Construction Company in 1982 after 30 years with the company. He returned to Louisburg in 2005 to be closer to his children.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jessie (York) Slawson, a brother, Merle, a sister, Mabel, and a great granddaughter, Makayla.

    Pete is survived by five children, Linda Cutshaw of Louisburg, Cathy Burk of Bucyrus, Carolyn Tucker of LaCygne, Sharon Mowry of Louisburg, and David Slawson of Independence, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, and a brother, Burl Slawson of Stilwell.

    Burl Harlan Slawson, age 92, of Spring Hill, Kansas, died August 21, 2012.

    He was born May 26, 1920 IN Wellsford, KS, the son of Claude C. and Beulah (Martin) Slawson. When he was 8 years of age they moved to Adrian, MO. It was there they struggled through the great depression.

    In 1939 he left Adrian and went to San Diego, CA to work at Fisher Body and Ryan Aeronautical.

    He joined the United States Navy on November 10, 1943 and was honorably discharged on April 16, 1946.

    He was united in marriage to Leslie Irene Feris on August 31, 1945 in San Diego, CA. He and Irene moved to the Stilwell, KS area and lived there for over 50 years.

    Burl had a plumbing shop in Olathe, KS for 14 years and was a member of Local # 8 Plumbers Union for 48 years.

    He enjoyed collecting antiques.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Leslie, and 1 granddaughter.

    Survivors include two sons, Danny Slawson and wife Joyce, Stilwell, KS; Martin Slawson and wife Sherri, Stilwell, KS; one daughter, Marilyn Edwards and husband Jim, Paola, KS; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
