Notes:
James was a farmer and lived in Haverhill till about 1725, when he moved to Dracut, Mass. The record of baptism of James Emery is from the Records of the First Church of Newbury. The records of birth and death of himself and wife are not know. He was probable born in Newbury, early in 1698. It is probable that she was born in Haverhill and that they both died in Dracut. On March 30, 1757, he presented a petition to the General Court of Massachusetts, in which he stated that his son Ambrose, a minor, "Enlisted himself into His Magestie's Service in the Expedition Carrying on against Cron Point, in the year 1756, under the command of Capt. Butterfield, and after he was dismissed (discharged), at Lake George, as he was returning home, he was taken sick at Glasgo, and not able to travel; and when tidings thereof was brought to your Petitioner he sent a man and horse to fetch his son home, which occasioned considerable charge to your Petitioner, according to the account herewith exhibited." He asked that he be remunerated. He was given L3, 9s, and 8d.

4. | Jonathan EMERY (1.James1) was born on 23 Nov 1723 in Haverhill, Mass. Notes:
Jonathan lived at Dracut, Mass., Winthrop, Me., and Fairfield, Maine, and was probably the first settler in that town. He was an Indian scout for eight years, in revenge, it is said, for the murder of his brother John.

- Birth: Between 25 Feb 1738 and 1739, Dracut, Mass.
Notes:
Ambrose was a soldier in the French and Indian War and the Crown Point Expedition; was wounded by an arrow. It is said that he participated in the Boston Tea Party. He lived near Philadelphia; his home was in one of the winter camps of General Washington's Army and his wife cooked the soldiers' rations.

Notes:
John enlisted for the town of Middleton in Capt. William Peabody's company, Col, William Phaisted's Regiment; killed at Fort William Henry, while his company was in camp. He went out of the fort to get a bucket of water and was shot, killed and scalped by an Indian.
