    "Genealogy of the Dodge Family": David Low Dodge was for several years a teacher. In 1802 he became a dry goods merchant in Hartford, CT.; removed to New York in 1807, and became an eminent merchant, to be honorably remembered for his aid to the religious and benevolent movements of his day. He was one of the founders of the New York Peace Society in 1815, was its first president, and was a U.S. appraiser of New York in 1832. He was also one of the founders of the New York Bible Society, and of the New York Tract Society. He published "the Mediator's Kingdom Not of this World" in 1809, and "War Inconsistent with the Religion of Jesus Christ," 1812.
