- Calvin Delano, who was also called "captain" was called mariner in the 1780 probate of Joseph Tripp, husband of his sister-in-law, Susannah (Alden) Tripp, No. 897 (Bristol Co PR File).
The will of Calvin Delano, Sr. of Fairhaven, gentleman, dated 24 September 1813, proved 4 January 1814, names his wife Bethiah (use and improvement of all the estate); daughters Lydia Stoddard and Elizabeth Howland Stetson, wife of William Stetson ($100 each and share of personal estate); his late daughter Deborah Delano wife of Jabez Delano and her children ($100 and share of personal estate); and his son Calvin Delano (real estate and outdoor moveables after wife's death). His two pews in the congregational Meeting House in Fairhaven were to be divided among his children and grandchildren. A letter of 29 December 1813 names Jabez Delano, father of the children of Deborah Delano and Calvin Delano "who is now about in Europe." The inventory taken on 13 January 1814 included a houselot with house and out buildings, a 50-acre farm, a woodlot at Cherry Plain, a woodlot at Tripps Mills, and salt marsh in Seconticut Neck. On 3 October 1815 Bethiah Delano administratrix declared the estate was insolvent (Bristol Co PR, original papers, 49:198, 240).
Bond was given for the estate of Calvin Delano, Jr., mariner, late of Fairhaven, by mother Bethiah Delano administratrix, on 3 October 1815, and she also declared this estate insolvent. The inventory of his personal estate was taken 11 July 1816 (Bristol Co PR, 50:559, 53:397).
