- JEANNINE ESPLIN BRINGHURST
July 6, 1931 - March 19, 2016
Jeannine Esplin Bringhurst, age 84, passed away in St. George, Utah. She was born July 6, 1931, to William H. Esplin and Mary Vinona Spendlove in Hurricane, Utah.
Jeannine was a graduate of Hurricane High School. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she participated as a Relief Society Teacher, a Cub Scout Leader, a Visiting Teacher and helped in the Cannery.
She was married to her sweetheart, Benjamin Ray Bringhurst, on December 27, 1949, in Kanarraville, Utah.
Anyone who knew Jeannine knows she dedicated her life to her family. She never forgot a birthday or missed a special event for a grandchild. It wasn?t unusual for her grandchildren to carry around a birthday card from ?Grandma Great? for weeks after their birthday. Jeannine was a woman with great intellect and had a passion for learning. She read voraciously and tore through books with great intensity. Often, her family caught her reading a book late into the night. Jeannine kept her home immaculate, and her cooking was treasured by all those lucky enough to sit at her kitchen table. Jeannine loved passing her time in conversation with friends and relatives. She also loved making quilts and continually gave them away to commemorate special occasions.
She is preceded in death by her parents (William and Vinona), and her brother-in-law (Gary Davis).
She is survived by her husband, Benjamin Ray Bringhurst, in the Southern Utah Veterans Home in Ivins, UT; her children David E. Bringhurst in Hurricane, UT; Craig Ray Bringhurst (Julie) in Hurricane, UT; Ben J. Bringhurst (Elizabeth) in Draper, UT; brothers John Esplin (Edie) and Ken Esplin (Dayle); her sister Diane Davis (Gary); 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 25, 2016, at 11:00 am at the LDS Chapel located at 1177 W. Greens Lake Dr., Cedar City, UT. Viewing will be held Friday morning from 9:30-10:30 am at the church. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
