After the arrival of Tristram Dodge Sr from the north of England near the River Tweed to Block Island, Rhode Island, in 1661, his four sons (including this son, Tristram) followed him in 1667. These sons were named as "Freemen" in July, 1670.
The first settlers to Block Island were Baptist.
