One of Oldest Residents Dies
---Mrs. Jane Godfrey, a well known resident of this vicinity, died at the home of her step-daughter, Mrs. Ezra Murdock this morning at ten o'clock. Mrs. Godfrey had been in failing health for some time, her death being due to general debility.
---She was 86 years of age and was born in Geneva, N. Y., in 1828, coming with her parents to Michigan in 1836, when she settled in Jackson county, her maiden name being Jane Lyman. In 1867 she was united in marriage to Charles Godfrey and from that time until six yeas ago she resided on a farm near eresco[sic]. For the past six years, she made her home with Mrs. Murdock.
---Mrs. Godfrey is survived by a sister, Mrs. Addie Campbell, of Parma, two stepchildren, Allan Godfrey of Marengo and Mrs. Murdock of this city, also a number of step grand children and great grandchildren.
---Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at the Murdock residence at 10:30, Rev. A. Watson Brown officiating. The remains will be taken to Parma for burial.

Mrs. Charles Godfrey died at 10:00 o'clock this morning at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Murdock in north Kalamazoo avenue. She died of old age, being 85 years and 11 months old. She was born in Geneo, N. Y., and came to Michigan with her parents in 1836 locating in Jackson county. She graduated from Albion college and for 20 years taught school. She was married 46 years ago and then located with her husband in Ceresco. Six years ago Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey removed here to take up their residence with Mr. and Mrs. Murdock. Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ezra Murdock of this city and Mrs. Addie E. Campbell of Parma also five grandchildren and four great grand children. The funeral will be held at the house Tuesday at 10:30 a. m. It is expected Rev. Schemerhorn, a former pastor of the Ceresco church will officiate. The remains will be taken to Parma for interment.

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Jane Godfrey were held this morning at the home of Mrs. Ezra Murdock, at 10:30, Rev. A. F. Nagler officiating. A large number of friends of the decedent attended, there were many beautiful flowers. Miss Pearl Foote beautifully rendered, "Somewhere." The remains were taken to Parma this afternoon at 1:30 where interment was given.
